Getting Clarity on Next Steps

What is the VERY NEXT THING that needs to be done? Having clarity on the answer to that question for ALL of your projects, client engagements, and key initiatives is the secret sauce to getting things done and producing results.

Please take a quick look at your project lists, client assignments, and other major tasks you want to accomplish soon.

  1. Is there a crystal-clear very next step noted?

  2. Do you know EXACTLY what specific step needs to be performed next?

  3. Is that step written down and in a place that will prompt you to take action—your calendar, your prioritized task list, etc.?

Employ the “Next Step Rule” and expect your staff and team members to do the same. ALWAYS ask your team members to identify their next step on matters coming out of team meetings, project planning sessions, etc. Hold them accountable for acknowledging exactly what they need to do next.

Set the example …. Make the Next Step Rule one of your SOPs…. Make no exceptions.

What next step will you perform?
